Well, I’ve noticed that other people started making DR’s (and idk if this is allowed? I'm still not 100% sure how this works? Oh well I'll learn) so I guess I’ll do an introduction one to talk about myself and what I hope to do in this game since it's going to start pretty soon! And also because I like to talk about myself
As I mentioned in the Bio Board, my name is Van! Well, not really. But it’s my internet name and I’ll stick by it. I’m 23 years old, and I’m a student from Illinois. I mentioned that this is my first Big Brother game, and that is true! I’m not a massive Big Brother superfan by any means (I started with Big Brother 16 and I’ve been watching feeds since then, haven’t gone back to watch older seasons yet) but I have a decent understanding of the game and I’m at least aware of some of the “greats” who’ve played the game, like Will and Dan. Heck, the first time I saw Big Brother, I happened to be sitting in the living room while my mom was watching Season 14 and I got to see Dan’s Funeral. Whew, what a first impression of the show!
However, what I didn’t mention in my Bio Board that this isn’t my first ORG. I mentioned that I watch Survivor, but I didn't mention that I'm a Survivor superfan! I’ve played two Survivor games on an old Nintendo Forum (under the name “Kinda” in those days) and got 6th and 5th place in that order. I’ve “played” on three seasons of Tumblr Survivor. I quit Tahiti and was first boot due to real life circumstances that had me too busy to play the game, got removed from Spain because I forgot I “played” Tahiti and it was supposed to be an all newbie season, so I was 2nd boot from that. The season of Tumblr Survivor I actually played was Aeolian Islands, which was a “first boots vs. newbies” season. And hey, the first time I actually got to play a season of Tumblr Survivor, I won! How about that?
However, my gameplay wasn’t something that was too terribly exciting. I’m no strategic mastermind, and most of my moves were the product of someone else. However, what I did have was a great social game and great jury management, so I won in the F3 in a near blowout against someone who was a “goat” and someone, who truthfully played a much better balanced game than I did. My challenge performance wasn’t also TOO terrible (even though our host told us all of us were apparently trash at challenges that season but hey) and I was able to win challenges when I absolutely had to, like the last immunity challenge of that season. If I had lost at F4, I most definitely would’ve been the last member of the jury. In all, I won the season, I won “Player of the Season”, “Best Move” (which credit should’ve gone to my buddy who suggested to me, but oh well) “Biggest Hero” (dat me) and “Best Duo” with my “Biggest Villain” buddy who I worked with. Not bad for a first full season, right?
But I’m not sure how my gameplay is going to transfer to the Big Brother house to make it a winning game. I had the perception of playing a “floater” game in Aeolian by not making my allegiances too obvious to people. I had an alliance, and a partner that I was insanely loyal to. Basically, they were my ride-or-die. With my ride or die partner, I guess we were like Jeremy/Natalie in terms of how our duo worked. Once he got booted, I did everything in my power to get revenge and I did by winning over the guy who took him out. But, I feel like had we made F3 together, it would probably look more like…I don’t know…a Derrick/Cody? If I’m still talking Survivor, a Tony/Woo? Ugh, I hate just typing that out, but I guess that would be it. I would want to honor my deal with my partner, even though they had the better “game”. But I also won over the guy who did play a more strategic game that I did. At the end of the season, we ended up comparing the final tribal to the finale of Survivor Koah Rong, where he was Aubry and I was Michele. So, even though my game was less exciting, the jury felt that I was more deserving of the win that the other guys. I go back and forth about whether my game was good to this day even though I won ugh. Nothing like having low confidence to bring you down even though you won and placed pretty high in games that you did get to play.
ANYWAY, I don’t feel like more subtle games are appreciated as much as Big Brother. That’s what I was trying to get at. I don’t know if my usual game will translate to Big Brother. I do know that my social game is the greatest strength I have. I’m pretty darn good at getting people to like me somehow, but will that be enough? I typically go for moves that won’t rock the boat, or as a certain someone from last season would say…”I’ll do what the house wants”. NOBODY respected James last season because of that mindset.
I guess what I want to do…I guess I want to play like Bridgette Dunning, except that I want to WIN. Yeah, she had a rough start at the beginning of the season with aligning with Frank. But after he left and once there was an opportunity to take a shot at Paulie, she fucking ran with it. Then she got immediately rekt’d by a DE. I feel like my game would be the most similar to hers….so, hopefully, I can just run with how I normally play the game but try to be a bit more aggressive than I was in Aeolian. Though at the same time, I need to remember that the jury votes for the winner. I could play this crazy game with huge moves, but if people were burned by me and can’t see past that, they won’t vote for me to win.
*Sigh*
It’s all a big jumble, my gameplan. But hey, this is my first Big Brother game. I didn’t win my first two (heck, first 4 if we’re counting Tahiti and Spain) Survivor ORG’s. I’ll just play the game with my strengths and find people to help me overcome my weaknesses. If I win, great! If I don’t win, hey, that’s life. My first goal in Aeolian was this, and I know people hated this saying in Big Brother, but there’s nothing wrong with this for now….
I just wanna make the jury.
